Comprehensive Evaluations

Evaluations are completed to evaluate the learner’s current level of performance regarding behaviors, skill sets and speech and language. This is done through parent interviews, direct observations at home/school and direct interaction with the child.

Behavioral Assessments include identifying why the behavior is occurring (function) and where the behavior occurs most often (environment). This information provides us with the knowledge to prevent, treat and replace the problem behavior. Following the evaluation, a written report is provided detailing the results and treatment plan.

Skill Set Assessments identify the individual’s repertoire of skills including:

ABLLS-R and VB-MAPP

  • Instructional Cooperation
  • Receptive and Expressive Language
  • Social Skills
  • Academic Skills
  • Generalization of Skills

Speech Assessments analyze an individual's communication skills through a comprehensive, individual, diagnostic battery. This includes parent interview, observations, standardized tests, and informal assessments. Following the evaluation, a written report is provided detailing the results, diagnosis and treatment plan.

The speech assessment identifies the individual’s repertoire of skills including:

  • Receptive and Expressive Language
  • Speech
  • Social/Pragmatics
  • Feeding
  • Auditory Processing
  • Oral Motor

Parent and Professional Training

To ensure that programming expectations and procedures are consistent across people and environments we offer on-going training for both parents and professionals (therapist, teachers, etc.) who are directly working with the learner. We meet this objective in four ways:

Mini-Workshops:

Offered to families and the professionals working directly with the family receiving services. Topics include: Behavior Management, Program Organization, Mand Training, Prompting, Preference Assessment, Data Collection and Procedures for Teaching Specific Skills, etc...

On-Going Training:

During consultant therapy sessions parents or professionals may receive additional training by working directly with the learner as he receives therapy. This time is often structured to model the procedures, allow parent or individuals to demonstrate and then receive feedback from the advisor.

Video Reviews:

On a monthly basis each therapist on your team will be given a Video Feedback Form. The video observation will ensure the quality of instruction and programming.

Consultative Training:

Team Meetings are also used to provide training and demonstration of procedures. Additional trainings are available as needed and may be done in a variety of settings such as home, school or within the community (stores, playground, church…).
